It’s so unfortunate that I live so far from cities! Although, to be fair, I do live in a city, but it doesn’t have the same charm and city feel like many others I’ve visited, do. That’s why I never pass up an opportunity to go up to Oklahoma City or down to Dallas, since those are the closest ones from where I live!
My friend came to visit from D.C. which was an absolute blast! I picked her up in Dallas early in the morning, which allotted us the time to do some exploring for a few hours. I love Dallas, but it’s almost as overwhelming as New York City!! They say if you can drive through NYC, you can drive around anywhere. I, on the other hand, think otherwise; if you can drive through 5-6 lanes of congested traffic, with drivers throwing no sympathy to the fact that you’re an out of stater in Dallas, you can drive anywhere!!
There’s a little part of Dallas that we’ve come to love. It’s called the Historic District, which is located in the west end of the city. It is also close to the JFK memorial. In the district, you can find many shops and restaurants. We walked through that strip and then further into the city to explore.
The thing about Dallas, is that it is so spread out and there’s only so much walking you can do to get from one place to another. Parts like, McKinney, we would have had to drive to. Mckinney is a part of the city that holds an abundance of restaurants and bars. The night life there is so vibrant and full of energy! Many outdoor bars are lit with colorful lights and you can hear music playing from miles away and as you walk up and down the strip. I highly recommend going there!
Since we were pressed for time, we only stayed around the historic district, but it was still a lot of fun! I thought it would be fun to do some twirling and get a picture of me doing it… (It didn’t go so well). But that’s ok. I finally decided to go along with the warm weather and give in to wearing a dress… as much as I would have loved to be wearing a scarf and sweater, for once!
My friend was so patient as she tried to capture the perfect photo of my twirls in my pink dress! I know, it was so silly, and I did get really dizzy… Not good when you’re on the sidewalk of a road full of cars! Ok, there actually weren’t any cars on that street, which is why I chose that area for photos. So it boded well in my favor!
