A Walk into History!

Good morning, friends!

I’m here sipping my pumpkin spice coffee in a pumpkin shaped cup… How basic am I ?? Oh and I’ve got my house lit with candles, smelling of pumpkin spice, firewood, cranberry mandarin, and sugared cranberry mint. It smells quite heavenly and cozy in here, and I can’t WAIT for it to get up to 90 degrees, today… NOT!! I just want it to feel like fall. Is that too much to ask for?? My friend and I were supposed to wake up early and go walking, but that didn’t happen. Netflix happened…

One of my favorite things about having a friend come to visit me, is being able to show them around the state I live in. Although this time, I played tourist, too!

So here is just a short and sweet post to share with you our mid day adventure around one of the state’s outdoor military museums. It consisted of old buildings once used for the commissary, barracks, offices, chapel, and classroom. I was more fascinated by the architecture of the buildings, hence, all the pictures I took in front of the doors.

Enjoy!

The pastel colored windows, are what peaked my interest about the chapel.

This used to be the commissary during the late 1800s. A commissary is basically a grocery store for military personnel, only (spouses, retirees, and currently active military).

Standing outside of what used to be the barracks... Kind of like a big dorm room for soldiers. Barracks are still used today for single soldiers or soldiers who are stationed on post, temporarily, for school and training.

Barracks are still used today for single soldiers or soldiers who are stationed on post, temporarily, for school and training. Most barracks these days only allow one or two persons to a room. This one that we visited, was one big room with 10-15 beds lined up on each end of the room.

Wandering through a little park near the museum where the sun rays gracefully beamed down through the trees, and there lay, a blanket of crisp leaves.
