Location: Augusta/Martinez, Georgia
I think my husband and I have finally found our new favorite activity to do together.
It makes me wonder why we hadn’t done this earlier! Thursday, we rented out bikes and rode 5 miles along the Savannah River. He had gone kayaking with a group, the day before, and had seen that there was a bike rental, nearby. So, we took full advantage of his day off, and decided to go do some exploring! We rented our bikes from a place called, Bicycle Peddler .This friendly, family owned business is located in Martinez, GA, and not only do they provide bike rentals, they also provide bike repairs, as well.
There are several paths you can ride along, but there is one main one that meanders along the Savannah River for a few miles. The trail is made for bikers, runners, and walkers and gives out plenty of space for exercise! We even saw quite a few kayakers making their way down the river. We had gone early in the morning to beat the afternoon rain, and the whole morning was just beautiful and picturesque. We made a few stops along the way, some to take photos, and another stop by the river where it was more calm and peaceful. We rode off the path and down a bumpy hill, towards the river, and parked our bicycles against a sitting rock. We sat there for a few minutes just taking in all the scenery and having a moment to ourselves to bask in the warm spring sun and the tranquility of it all.
After a few minutes by the river, we continued on the path for a few more miles. Surrounded by vibrant greens from all the vegetation around us, there was not one dull moment about our bike ride.
I think it’s so important for couples, especially married couples, to find at least one thing they enjoy doing together. My husband and I are very different, so it’s important for us to find something we both enjoy. I think we found out that bike riding is definitely our happy activity and we are at our happiest when doing that! Now, I just have to buy my own bike (after our move). We’ll be moving out to Washington state in a few months, and I know that there will be so many places for us to do the outdoor activists we love!
